Spring Weekly Update #2

In this post, you will find updates from Eryk and Siobhan, an overview of our discussion this week, and plans moving forward.

Eryk’s World:

  • Cruising through the asset list

  • Worked on microphone, “on air” sign, inside of prize door (WIP), tiled floor

  • Working on game board and centering the pivot, working on fixing game board

  • Eryk is feeling a “rush of energy”

  • Tested out a cool film look for the experimental world and potential stickers for the logo

  • Found a cool plug-in for text for the logo

Siobhan Land:

  • ALL SHOTS ARE FULLY BLOCKED! I went through the 34 shots and refined the blocking. With lots of acting, I got great reference to refine the blocking. Splining will begin this week.

  • Before splining, I will fix up a few elements of the rig. I will fix the weight painting for the ear/torso/fingers and add additional controls for the glasses/bow/shoulders.

  • I drew up some concept art for the experimental realm. Here are the ideas broken down:

  • In the first world, Nicky is in a happy realm filled with elements from the show. It’s bright and luxurious, reminding him of his glory days. Elements of the game show will be floating around him as he soars over a waving river of curtains.

  • The second realm is more reminiscent of backstage - darker, cooler, foggy. This is where the floating door staircase will be. I’m envisioning a glow on the doors where Nicky steps that dissipates as he goes. We are also hoping to use physics to create cables hanging around the world.

  • Finally, here is the art for the last world. The color of the doors will match the test signal used by TVs (SMPTE bars and tone). It will be representative of Nicky disconnecting from the show and perhaps reality. We’re planning to put a glitch effect on the doors and use edge detection for the shading.

Today's Discussion Topic: COLORS!

We selected a color scheme for the studio and each experimental realm. The studio will be bright but slightly muted to feel more old school. The first realm will be a more saturated version of this with a focus on the yellow colors (blue/purple as accents).
