Spring Weekly Update #1

Updated: Jan 19, 2022

Hello! This semester, the Eryk-Siobhan-Wam-Bam-Animation-Slam-Combo will be meeting to discuss various topics of interest regarding our film each week. We have laid out different topics for upcoming weeks to make sure every detail is addressed in our film (ie: color narrative, rendering presets, credits font, etc).

This week, we reviewed modeling techniques and the game plan for finishing up models for the environment. Eryk is wrapping up the basic door model (pictured below) and will proceed with modeling the "On Air" sign for the experimental portion. He is also testing a tiled floor technique for the studio stage.

A low poly version of the door was created to simplify duplication for the experimental portion.

The theater seat has been finished and duplicated to fill out the background for our game show set.

Here is a look at the on air sign that is currently being used for reference.

Furthermore, additional modeling goals for this Friday are to clean up the game board, create a mini hallway inside of the prize doors for Nicky to fall into, finish the on air sign, and re-simulate the curtains. Once this is done, everything will be brought back into the master environment scene. The updated stage floor will also be evaluated then and revised if necessary!

Siobhan has also been refining the character blocking like a mad lady. Around 20 shots have been done, and 10 more will be completed this week. Here are three of the more complex shots.

Additionally, we discussed the voice acting in our film. For the next version of our animatic, we will test out the new Nicky Knox audio recorded by our voice actor, Russ Gannon. Any additional lines will be sent to Russ to record in the upcoming weeks. For the announcer voice, we sent a revised script to Russ. There are a few additional lines in here for use in the experimental portion.

Throughout the week, we will think about what layout and elements we want in the experimental world. This will then begin our discussion next week! In addition, we will talk about color narrative and a color scheme for the studio. Until then, here's a silly lil pic of Nicky.
